Two firms act as German company acquires Australian prison-phone provider

Two law firms have acted as a European prison-phone systems provider enters the Australian market with an acquisition.

Macpherson Kelley acted for Telio in its 75% acquisition of Comsec TR, which was advised by Squire Patton Boggs. Macpherson Kelley acted alongside Carle Square corporate advisory for Telio, while Squire Patton Boggs worked with BDO corporate advisers for Comsec TR.

The acquisition is the first for Telio in the Asia-Pacific region and in Australia. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.

The Macpherson Kelley team was headed by principal lawyer Terry Kokkinos and special counsel Meileng Tam. They were assisted by the firm’s technology team.

The Squire Patton Boggs team was headed by Tony Chong, the firm’s Perth managing partner and Asia desk head. The team also included associates Blair Strickland and Alix Poole.
