Top firm appoints new TMT partner from global giant
Allens has appointed Michael Park as its newest partner in its technology, media, and telecommunications (TMT) practice. Park was previously partner at Norton Rose Fulbright, where he was Asia Pacific technology group leader and Australian privacy practice head.

The Big Six firm said that the hire is one of the region's most significant lateral hires in TMT in recent years. It also strengthens the firm’s TMT practice, the only team in Australia to be ranked band one in Chambers Asia Pacific 2017 for all three components of the practice.

Park, who is an internationally recognised practitioner in technology, telecommunications, data privacy, and infrastructure, has more than 20 years’ experience in TMT. He is especially skilled in the areas of major procurements and outsourcing, cyber advisory, and commercial and regulatory telecommunications.

Park began his career at Jackson McDonald in 1993, before moving to Henry Davis York in 1999. From there, he joined Norton Rose Fulbright as a senior associate before becoming partner in 2010.

Gavin Smith, partner and head of TMT at Allens, said that Park’s appointment helps the team adapt to the needs of its clients.

“Our clients increasingly require complex technology and data advice across all aspects of their businesses, from back-end system change to the use of technology and data to transform interaction with customers,” he said.
