There’s been considerable growth in the renewables sector lately, says an expert at the Big Six firm
Herbert Smith Freehills and Norton Rose Fulbright have advised on the Bodangora Wind Farm near Wellington in New South Wales.
HSF advised Infigen Energy, which has announced it will proceed to construction of the wind farm, while NRF advised German bank NORD/LB and the Clean Energy Finance Corporation (CEFC).
Infigen, collaborating with GE and CATCON, will construct the 113MW wind farm, which costs approximately $236m. The project, which is supported by a power purchase agreement that sees EnergyAustralia purchasing 60% annual output to December 2030, and is partly funded by $163m facility provided by NORD/LB and the CEFC.
HSF advised on all aspects of the transaction, including procurement, project financing, connection, off take, property, and planning. The firm’s team was led by partners Gerard Pike and Toby Anderson, who were supported by partners Kris Percy and David Ryan, executive counsel Peter Davis, and senior associates Miles Wadley, Daniel Ficyk, Phillip Rattenbury, Micaela McLean, and Caroline Rowe. The Melbourne-based NRF team was led by partner Jo Crew, who was assisted by special counsel Joanna Taylor, senior associate Claire Whitney, and associates Celia Boyle and Sarah Mulcahy.
“We have seen considerable growth in the Australian renewables sector over the past 12 months and the first quarter of 2017 has been particularly busy for the firm’s renewables team in closing a number of projects,” said Toby Anderson, Asia Pacific renewables team head.
