She commences in the role on 1 April
Theresa Warwick has been appointed to the ACT Civil and Administrative Tribunal (ACAT) as a presidential member.
Warwick starts in the role on 1 April, according to Attorney-General Tara Cheyne. Warwick will hold the position for seven years, according to Canberra Daily.
She has served as an acting sessional presidential member since early last year.
The barrister began working with the ACAT as a senior member in 2020. She has also been deputy chair of the ACT Sentence Administration Board.
Warwick was part of the ACT Public Interest Monitor Panel. In addition, she was an ACT special magistrate.
She began a private practice at the ACT Bar in 2000, which she continues to maintain. She focuses on criminal law.
ACT Bar Council President Brodie Buckland praised Warwick’s appointment on behalf of the ACT Bar Association.
“I am delighted to be joining the senior leadership team of the ACT Civil and Administrative Tribunal, which is a vital part of the ACT justice system”, Warwick said in a statement published by Canberra Daily. “I look forward to working with all members and staff of the tribunal, as we continue to resolve disputes and deliver justice, with integrity and excellence, for the ACT community”.
