The top legal employers in Australia for 2021 take the stage

For the sixth Employer of Choice awards, Australasian Lawyer has identified 24 firms that were the gold standard employers in the Australian legal sector.

The arrival of the COVID-19 pandemic early last year ushered in various challenges; nonetheless, many law firms were ready to rise to the occasion on behalf of their employees. As remote working became the norm rather than exception, new initiatives were developed to foster camaraderie among colleagues despite the limitation of a screen, and technical support was provided to make the transition to working from home easy.

A number of firms also showed that they were willing to make changes to the way things worked by incorporating more of what employees wanted into their operating models.

For instance, HopgoodGanim Lawyers created opportunities for employees to still come together through regular firm events and functions, emphasising the firm’s focus on connection and collaboration.

Gilchrist Connell, Chamberlains Law Firm and HHG Legal Group were also among the firms that stepped up their initiatives in areas like diversity and inclusion, career progression, communication, work-life balance and health and wellbeing.
