The promotion round includes four partners and a special counsel
Piper Alderman has promoted 27 lawyers to senior positions, including four partners and a special counsel.
The four new partners are all based in the firm’s Sydney office. They include two female lawyers and increase the firm’s partnership to 75 – a fourth of whom are female.
The firm’s new partners are Daniel Fitzpatrick, Angelina Kozary, Chris Lyons, and McKenzie Moore.
Fitzpatrick has 15 years’ experience advising developers, builders, trade contractors and owners of retail shopping centres, aged-care facilities, and industrial and residential developments in construction disputes, including in litigation, arbitration, security of payment legislation, expert determination, and mediation. He joined the firm as special counsel in 2017 from Robert Riddell.
Kozary is known for her work in formal insolvency appointments, corpora corporate restructurings, complex commercial litigation, and insolvency risk advice. She has a focus on working for liquidators, voluntary administrators, receivers, bankruptcy trustees and secured creditors as well as corporate clients in both contentious and non-contentious matters. She joined the firm as senior associate in 2016, working with insolvency partner, Thomas Russell.
Chris Lyons, who joined the firm in 2012, is a corporate law expert with extensive experience in a wide range of areas that include M&A, capital markets, shareholder arrangements, commercial, and regulatory matters. He is a specialist in casino regulation and gaming law.
Moore, who also joined Piper Alderman in 2012, is an expert in complex commercial litigation who has acted in several major disputes, including funded actions under Australian Corporations and Securities legislation. She worked in the energy and resource areas, the firm said, acquiring specialist expertise from her involvement in disputes related to mining, petroleum, and energy sector matters.
