Partner in 2016, managing partner in 2017 for HSF lawyer
The first Korean partner at Herbert Smith Freehills will take the lead at the firm’s Seoul office.
Dongho Lee becomes managing partner just a year after making partner and succeeds founding partner Lewis MacDonald, who established the South Korean office in 2013.
"In just over four years, Lewis, Dongho and their team have built our Seoul practice into one of the largest foreign law firms in the country," said Justin D'Agostino, Managing Partner, Asia and Australia.

When it comes to choosing a law firm, consumers are heavily influenced by a firm’s reputation according to a new report.
The UK’s Legal Services Consumer Panel says that 75% of consumers rely on reputation due to a lack of pertinent information to allow for comparison of law firms.
Little more than a quarter of consumers shop around to find the best firm for their needs and reputation beats price (69%) when it comes to selection.
However, the majority (83%) are happy with the outcome of their legal matter and 80% were happy with the legal services they purchased.
The survey concludes that more needs to be done within the legal profession to help the decision-making process and continue to drive competition in the legal services market.

Influential music publication Billboard has named Greenberg Traurig’s entertainment & media practice chairman Joel Katz as its lawyer of the year.
The 73 year old legal profession legend has an impressive past and present client list including James Brown, Julio Iglesias, and China’s Alibaba.
He also Negotiated, on behalf of the estate of Michael Jackson, the $750 million sale of Jackson’s 50 percent stake in Sony/ATV Music Publishing to Sony Corp.
Katz is up at 5.30am every day and says he spends 10 hour a day on the phone.
