New hire boosts private equity function at Jones Day

Jones Day has welcomed Zack Oswald as of counsel in the firm’s private equity practice at the Singapore office.

Oswald has more than 10 years of experience advising clients in connection with the formation, marketing, management, and operation of private equity, venture capital, credit, real estate, and other alternative investment funds and separately managed accounts. His experience includes representing institutional investors in their investments into funds, as well as fund sponsors in connection with co-investments and complex secondary transactions.

Oswald also regularly advises clients on the formulation of internal policies, ongoing regulatory compliance, governance, carried interest plan structuring, succession planning, and employee separation matters.

“Zack started his career in the United States and has earned a reputation as an excellent lawyer here in Singapore over the past three years,” said Sushma Jobanputra, partner-in-charge of Jones Day’s Singapore office. “He is a tremendous addition to our team in the heart of one of the world’s critical financial centers, strengthening our ability to counsel clients on their most important private equity transactions.”

Oswald will work alongside the firm’s lawyers worldwide to assist clients with buyouts, venture investments, co-investments, fund formations, and take-private transactions.

“Zack is an accomplished fund formation lawyer who has worked on a wide variety of transactions, even serving as in-house legal counsel to an alternative investments firm,” said Andrew Levine, who co-leads Jones Day’s private equity practice. “This diverse experience gives him a well-informed perspective for how to structure global deals. We are pleased to welcome him to Jones Day and look forward to working with him to serve our clients.”
