She shares how Stowe Family Law’s pickup of Emera Family Law will impact the firm
Last month, UK firm Stowe Family Law finalised its acquisition of Emera Family Law. The pickup marked Stowe’s second investment in Australia and enhances Emera Family Law’s resources.
For Mona Emera and her team, it’s expected to be “very much business as usual, just with an exciting new chapter” that includes Jessica Black and Mairead Melia of the Emera Family Law team making partner and Jodie Jarvis being elevated to senior lawyer.
“Emera Family Law will deliberately keep its name, its local branding, and its established client and referrer relationships. Clients will deal with the same firm and the same senior solicitor”, she told Australasian Lawyer. “One of the most exciting things about this partnership is that Stowe have demonstrated from early on that they are committed to the growth and development of this incredible team”.
Emera praised the lawyers whose careers have advanced through the acquisition.
“I've worked on and off with Mairead for around 15 years, and she's been alongside me since the very first day of Emera Family law. She is an exceptional lawyer who brings warmth and integrity to everything she does. Jessica joined us almost four years ago and has been a driving force from the beginning. She's an outstanding advocate, deeply committed to her clients, and an integral part of our firm's success”, Emera said. “I’ve worked with Jodie for around 11 years. She brings calm, wisdom and genuine care to every client and every colleague, and this promotion is thoroughly deserved”.
Emera will remain at the helm of the firm, supporting the newly promoted lawyers’ growth within the firm. She does not expect the acquisition to affect her focus as a leader.
