Lander & Rogers has helped commercial real estate investment firm JY Group to acquire a 50% stake in the Westfield Whitford City shopping centre for $195m.

This deal marks JY Group’s first joint venture with Scentre Group. It also boosts JY Group’s total assets under management (AUM) to $2.5bn in a first for the business.

According to Lander & Rogers, the acquisition enhances JY Group’s position in the retail and mixed-use sector.

“This deal not only expands [JY Group’s] portfolio but also marks a significant step forward in their partnership with Scentre Group, strengthening their position in the Australian market”, lead partner John Wells said.

Wells received support from partner Lee Wolveridge and lawyer Luke Buckthorpe in working on this deal. Finance partner Adam Jeffrey tackled the financing aspect of the deal with assistance from senior associate Dominic Ho and lawyer Jaco Moulder.
