HWLE Lawyers introduces single-CEO leadership model, confirms Kris Hopkins as CEO

HWLE Lawyers has introduced a new single-CEO leadership model and confirmed Kris Hopkins as the firm’s CEO.

Hopkins will work alongside a leadership team comprising senior partner Brendan Earle as well as a chief marketing officer, general counsel, and digital intelligence head. The new leadership structure took effect on 20 April.

“Kris has played an important role in leading the firm and has been part of management for the past 15 years, and this appointment represents a natural progression in alignment with our current position, our focus on sustained success, as well as our future ambitions”, said board chair Jamie Restas.

Hopkins was first appointed CEO on 1 July 2024. He worked with recently retired chief executive partner Russell Mailler to lead the firm after Juan Martinez died in March 2024.

Previously, Hopkins had served as HWLE Lawyers’ head of finance for a decade and was COO for three years.

“We have demonstrated that consistent high-quality client delivery is built on an authentic, transparent culture that creates an environment of sustained success. I am looking forward to working with the board, our leadership team, and with our people to unlock our potential as we enter this exciting era for the firm”, he said.

HWLE Lawyers indicated that it would soon debut its Employee Value Proposition.
