Global Best in Law 2023 revealed

Key Media’s Best in Law is an annual guide that seeks to spotlight the legal award winners from the year’s special reports, which featured a total of 594 individuals and companies from the legal sector.

The award categories included 5-Star Employers of Choice, 5-Star Pro Bono Firms, Top Boutique Firms, Top Regional Firms, Fast Firms, Service Provider Awards, Most Influential Lawyers, Elite Women, Rising Stars, and Readers’ Choice.

“We strive to always be a law firm that clients want to work with and our team wants to work at,” said Tean Kerr, director of Kerrs, one of the Australian firms being celebrated. “Our leadership team makes every decision for our firm with this in mind.”

Practice areas of law that received focus included insurance defence, personal injury, tax, and wills, trusts, and estates.

The individuals and companies named by the reports stood out because of their delivery of outstanding results, their introduction of new initiatives, their work to improve existing practices, and the way they have served as a source of inspiration to their peers.

“I think we are well-positioned for many more years to come,” said Robert Kreklewetz, partner of Millar Kreklewetz LLP, one of the winning Canadian firms. “Being recognized by the Best in Law really affirms this for me.”

As in previous years, Key Media’s legal publications – Australasian Lawyer, NZ Lawyer, Canadian Lawyer, Law Times, and Lexpert – curated and published the 2023 guide.

The International Network of Boutique Law Firms, Pro Bono Ontario, the Federation of Ontario Law Associations, and the Society of Construction Law New Zealand provided assistance in Key Media’s reporting this year.

Throughout 2023, Key Media’s intelligence unit distributed hundreds of surveys to 60,000 readers across Australia, New Zealand, and Canada; followed up via phone interviews; placed the roster of shortlisted finalists in front of a judging panel; and culminated this extensive reporting through the publication of 172 special reports.

The series of special reports, which attracted 2.4 million pageviews, showcased over 5,000 professionals and companies across Asia-Pacific and North America who have been excelling and raising the bar in numerous key categories.
