Firm advises on $203m mining acquisition

A major firm has advised on the $203m acquisition of a nationwide mining business.

King & Wood Mallesons has advised on the $203m acquisition of Fletcher Building’s Rocla Quarry Products business by Hanson Construction Materials.

Rocla Quarry Products, a supplier of building and construction sands, operates 12 sand quarries in Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney, as well as small sites across Australia.  The company has a 50 per cent interest in joint venture operations in Mt Marrow, Mittagong and Cowra quarries.

Acting for Hanson Construction Materials, the complex acquisition was led by Sydney M&A partner Adrian Perkins.
KWM enjoys a long standing relationship with Hanson and I am delighted that we were able to partner with Hanson to pursue its growth strategy,” said Perkins.

“I am particularly pleased that we could capitalise on our multi-jurisdictional expertise and capability in the mining sector to deliver a winning edge for Hanson in the bid process.”

The deal was complex due to the mix of assets operating in different states.
