Nick Crennan will wrap up his time in the role at the end of the month
Dr Andrew Murray will become Colin Biggers & Paisley’s new managing partner as of 1 October.
He will succeed Nick Crennan, who steps down on 30 September. Murray was elected deputy managing partner on 7 August 2024 and collaborated with Crennan on a succession plan to facilitate leadership continuity.
“Andrew’s appointment signals a new chapter for Colin Biggers & Paisley, one that builds on our legacy while embracing the opportunities ahead. His deep understanding of our clients’ needs, our people and the broader community makes him exceptionally well-placed to lead the next phase of our journey”, Crennan said.
Murray commenced with CBP in 2010, making partner in 2016. He was co-chair of the firm’s Pride@CBP group, chaired the partner promotion interview panel, and was on the inclusion and diversity leadership team.
He also spearheaded graduate recruitment initiatives and contributed to learning and development programs.
“I am honoured to lead Colin Biggers & Paisley into its next chapter. Today, we are more than just lawyers - we are strategic partners, problem-solvers and drivers of progress, committed to building a stronger future for our clients, colleagues and communities”, Murray said.
CBP celebrates its 125th year in the industry this year, something Murray highlighted.
“This year marks our practice's 125th anniversary. It is a reminder that by staying true to our values, by building on our deep industry and sector expertise and by prioritising innovation and client experience, we will not only uphold our legacy but continue to empower our people and support the aspirations of our clients in the years to come”, he said. “On behalf of the practice I extend our gratitude to Nick for his legacy of growth, strength and cohesion, which have laid a remarkable foundation for our continued success”.
In a statement to Australasian Lawyer, Crennan described Murray’s vision for CBP as “bold and clear”.
“He aims to build on our strong foundations, embrace new opportunities and deliver exceptional outcomes for our clients. His focus on cultivating meaningful relationships, upholding a standard of excellence and aligning our work with our clients’ ambitions ensures our practice continues to thrive”, Crennan said of Murray.
Crennan confirmed to Australasian Lawyer that he would be moving on to a part-time partner position.
“I am committed to continuing my support for our initiatives and look forward to mentoring the next generation of leaders within the practice”. Crennan said.
