Commercial law firm gets special counsel from top-tier firm

Blackstone Waterhouse has enticed a senior lawyer from a top-tier firm.

The commercial law firm has appointed Rebecca Davie as special counsel. Davie, who joins the Sydney firm after 12 years at Clayton Utz, will jointly lead the Blackstone Waterhouse environment and planning practice with managing partner Danny Arraj.

Davie spent 12 years at Clayton Utz, most recently as a senior associate. She also has experience as a foreign lawyer at Bati-Juris in Paris as an environment and property law solicitor at Roads and Maritime Services New South Wales.

Davie – whose clients include ASX 100 companies; multinationals; and the Commonwealth, state, and local government agencies – has worked on major projects in NSW, including the planning and delivery of urban renewal projects in Sydney and the acquisition and disposal of significant industrial assets around the country.

Advising on all aspects of environment and planning law in transactional, advisory, and litigious matters, Davie has particular expertise in contaminated land liability, environmental incidents, and waste regulation.

Blackstone Waterhouse says the appointment bolsters the firm’s “whole of project” delivery experience.

Arraj said that Davie’s technical and legal background in the environmental space is a unique offering and that he is confident that she will deliver results for clients.

Davie finished her geography and law degrees and her master of project management from the University of Sydney. She is a solicitor of the Supreme Court of NSW, and the Federal and High Courts of Australia.
