Clyde & Co AU founding partner makes private practice comeback as Perth managing partner

Clyde & Co Australia founding partner Jenny Thornton has made her comeback to private practice as the firm’s new managing partner in Perth.

Five years after helping to establish Clyde & Co in Australia, Thornton had left the firm in 2017 to commence with Quayside Chambers.

“We’re so pleased to welcome Jenny back to Clyde & Co. She has excellent connections in the market stemming from decades of both private practice and during her time at the bar, which we are excited to leverage for the benefit of our clients”, Clyde & Co Australia managing partner Rebecca Kelly said.

In her new leadership role, Thornton is set to support the firm's expansion plans, concentrating on Perth. She will also support core sectors like insurance, aviation, energy, marine, and projects and construction.

Moreover, she will support Clyde & Co’s global disputes, regulatory and investigation, and corporate and advisory teams. According to Thornton, the firm has “tremendous potential for further growth” in Australia.

“We have very concrete plans for growth in the Australian market, and our key sectors play very well into the Australian economy, and the rapidly evolving regulatory landscape. With her deep experience and connections, Jenny’s appointment is a cornerstone of our growth plans for the Western Australian market, and beyond”, said Simon McConnell, APAC board chair and Hong Kong partner.
