Clifford Chance has elevated five new partners in the Asia-Pacific region, including two in Australia.

Mark Gillgren and Chad Bochan have been promoted to the partnership effective 1 May. The other Asia-Pacific partners are Viola Liu in Hong Kong, as well as Tom Lin and Daryl Liu in Singapore.

“Our Australian presence has never looked stronger with the addition of Mark and Chad and previous partner promotion of Nadia Kalic, which strengthens our service to clients in Australia and the wider region. In particular, I'd like to recognise their wonderful commitment and contribution to expanding our firm’s truly global reach and breadth of knowledge across our various practice areas,” said Richard Gordon, Australia managing partner.

Gillgren, who leads the firm’s finance practice in Perth, is focused on complex, cross-border finance transactions across the Asia-Pacific region. Those transactions include acquisition financing, projects, and convertible and structured debt.

Gillgren also leads the firm’s restricting and insolvency practice in Australia. He specialises in the energy, resources, funds, and trade and commodity finance sectors. Qualified in England and Wales, New South Wales, and Western Australia, Gillgreen joined the firm in London in 2006 and in Australia in 2012.

Bochan is a part of the firm’s finance practice in Sydney. He specialises in advising on energy and infrastructure financings in the Asia-Pacific region. He is also experienced on IBOR transition mandates.

Bochan, who joined the firm in 2007 in Paris and in Sydney in 2015, is also a part of the firm’s Australian financial markets regulatory practice. He is qualified in both England and Wales and New South Wales.
