The South Australian renewable energy market is booming – and this project will be the biggest yet

DLA Piper has helped bring South Australia’s largest solar array closer to reality.
The firm has advised Equis Energy Australia on the development of a 127MW solar farm and a 132/3KV substation in Tailem Bend, South Australia. The project will have 400,000 solar panels spread across 200 hectares.
Equis, which is Asia’s largest independent renewable energy developer, achieved financial close on the project earlier this month. UGL Engineering will commence construction of the $200m project shortly.
The DLA Piper team was led by finance and projects partner Dan Brown. Partner Kate Papailiou led on financing matters. The partners were supported by Bing Wang, Marnie Carroll, and Kim Eichorn.
DLA Piper advised on all aspects of the project, including the tenure documentation, power purchase agreement, connection agreement, finance documents, due diligence, and EPC and O&M documents.
Equis is also a client of the firm in other matters related to its portfolio of renewable power assets in Australia. DLA Piper also acts for the company on its portfolio of renewables projects in the wider Asian region.
