Banking and finance expert swaps global giants in Melbourne

Baker McKenzie has won over a banking and finance expert from King & Wood Mallesons (KWM).

Charlie Detmold has joined the global giant as a partner in the banking and finance practice. He was formerly a special counsel at KWM.

Anthony Foley, Baker McKenzie national managing partner, said that Detmold joins the firm at a time of increasing demand for its banking and finance services.

“Charlie comes to us with significant experience in a broad range of financing matters, particularly project finance, PPPs, acquisition finance and corporate finance,” he said.

Duncan McGrath, Baker McKenzie’s head of banking and finance, said that Detmold is a welcome addition to the team, which offers extensive domestic and international experience in acting for a variety of clients, which include banks and other financiers, borrowers, and sponsors.

McGrath said that Detmold will be an integral part of the practice group’s offering based in Melbourne.

The new partner said he is excited to join a growing team and to act for both domestic and international clients on significant transactions in Australia and beyond.

“I am looking forward to working with the broader team on innovative projects across the spectrum, with the support of Baker McKenzie's unique global network,” he said.
