Ashurst, Clifford Chance awarded for Asia Pacific derivatives work
Ashurst and Clifford Chance have been recognised for their work in the derivatives markets at the Global Derivatives Awards in London. Ashurst picked up Asia Pacific Law Firm of the Year for its regulatory work while Clifford Chance was named Asia Pacific Law Firm of the Year for transactions.
The awards, recognising firms that have made a major contribution to the market in the past 12 months, crowned Morrison & Foerster as Global Law Firm of the Year (overall); Clifford Chance won for transactions work in Europe; and Mayer Brown won European regulatory award.
Latham partner appointed to ICC Commission
The managing partner of Latham & Watkins in Hong Kong has been appointed to the International Chamber of Commerce Commission on Arbitration. Simon Powell is the second Latham partner to be appointed following Philip Clifford who joined the commission in 2013.
Clyde joins international employment network
Global law firm Clyde & Co has joined international employment law network L&E Global as its UK affiliate. The 5-year-old alliance of law firms provides counsel to employers on labour relations, employment law, immigration law and employee benefits.
Slater & Gordon calls out sexism in the workplace
A survey by Slater & Gordon shows that sexism is still very much a part of many workplaces.
The law firm found that 19 per cent of women feel that bosses pay more attention to their appearance compared to male peers. Seven per cent have been told by a boss to wear high heels in order to be “more appealing.”
Slaters’ employment law team also discovered that 86 per cent of women feel pressured to dress “sexier”, fearing that their career may suffer otherwise.
Men have noticed the disparity with 48 per cent saying that their dress code was more clearly defined than that of female colleagues.
