HSF advises on $200m whole loan sale

The transaction brings the non-bank lender’s whole loan sales for 2016 to $1 billion after two $400 million whole loan sales earlier this year.

Herbert Smith Freehills has advised ASX-listed non-bank lender Pepper Group Limited on completing its third and final whole loan sale for 2016, selling a $200 million portfolio of residential mortgage loans.

This transaction brings Pepper’s total whole loan sales for 2016 to $1 billion, following two earlier whole loan sales this year worth $400 million each which HSF also advised on.

The HSF team was led by partner Mark Currell, who was supported by senior associate Jacob Kahwaji.

HSF has also previously advised Pepper Group on its $471 million initial public offering and its acquisition from GE of $5 billion in residential mortgage assets in Australia and New Zealand.
