Ngā Ratonga Ture/Auckland Council Legal Services has named Kelly Parker as its associate GC – litigation and dispute resolution.

Parker brings to the role nearly three decades of extensive civil litigation experience. Over the last 18 years, she has represented local authorities including Auckland Council and its legacy councils. She also has experience with alternative dispute resolution.

As associate GC – litigation and dispute resolution, she leads a team responsible for managing cases such as land valuation claims, natural disaster claims (floods/landslips), contractual disputes, health and safety issues, coronial enquiries, and building defect claims. She oversees such claims in addition to providing support to the team on claims resolution.

Parker stepped into the role effective 7 February. GC Helen Wild said that Parker’s appointment reflects the quality and importance of the Auckland Council Legal Services’ work.

Earlier this year, Ngā Ratonga Ture also appointed Kathryn Hickling as associate GC (property).
