Resolution Life picks up Asteron Life with Chapman Tripp's help

Chapman Tripp has helped Resolution Life to acquire Asteron Life New Zealand, Suncorp Group’s life insurance company in New Zealand, for $410m.

The deal enhances the scale and capability of Resolution Life in the New Zealand market significantly. It is expected to be completed in nine months, pending approval from New Zealand regulatory authorities.

Chapman Tripp partner Bradley Kidd and senior associate Tom Jemson spearheaded the firm’s team on the transaction. They were supported by partner Roger Wallis, senior solicitor Mitchell Souness, and solicitor Hye-Song Goo. Partners Tim Sherman, Marie Wisker and Lucy Cooper provided specialist advice, as did Kara Daly, Georgina Leslie, Charlotte Montgomerie, Doug Tang, Tanzam Hossain and Alexandra Bensemann.

Chapman Tripp worked alongside KPMG in advising Resolution Life on the acquisition. Bell Gully advised Suncorp.
