Hesketh Henry appoints new managing partner

Hesketh Henry has appointed Nick Gillies as its new managing partner.

Gillies will take up the role on 1 January 2024. He succeeds Christina Bryant.

He leads Hesketh Henry’s construction practice as part of the disputes team. He has been with the firm since 2013 and has been a partner for the past eight years.

Gillies has represented clients on time and money disputes, building defect claims, and contract matters. He has also provided guidance on insurance issues that intersect with construction, such as the pursuit and defence of liability claims involving underwriters, and has advised on marine and yachting industry issues.

He is a member of Arbitrators' and Mediators' Institute of New Zealand, the New Zealand Society of Construction Law, and the Dispute Resolution Board Foundation. He also writes about and speaks on construction and dispute resolution matters.

Before joining Hesketh Henry, Gillies recorded stints with Russell McVeagh and London-based construction firm Beale and Company. He is admitted to practice in both New Zealand and England and Wales.
