Holland Beckett promotes two in Tauranga to associate

Holland Beckett has promoted two members of their Tauranga team to the position of associate, reported the New Zealand Law Society.

Alex Elder of the property and commercial team commenced his tenure with the firm in 2016 after obtaining degrees in law and accounting from the University of Otago. He is a specialist in a variety of commercial and property law matters, particularly transactions involving small to medium sized business and commercial property.

He has tackled business sale and purchase transactions; residential, rural, and commercial property conveyancing; commercial contracts; trusts; financing arrangements; and leasing. He also provides pro-bono services to charities in Tauranga and has served as a volunteer with the Baywide Community Law Centre.

Elder contributes his expertise in legal and governance as a trustee on the Bay of Plenty Youth Development Trust and the Te Aranui Youth Trust.

Abigail Pearce started with the litigation team at Holland Beckett in 2020. She is a specialist in family and employment matters.

She has handled relationship property disputes, separation and relationship property agreements, care of children matters, and guardianship issues. Additionally, she has specialist medicolegal knowledge, having worked with healthcare providers such as district health boards and private medical facilities.

Her experience in the medicolegal sector includes conducting inquiries into professional competence and safety, employment law matters, and patient complaints.

Pearce has worked pro bono with the Baywide and Tautoko Mai legal clinics.
